How to avoid home buying mistake
A home is probably the most expensive purchase you'll ever make. There are certain factors that you need to consider before signing the papers.

  • Before you rush in and write an offer for the first house you see, look at the other homes for sale in the area.
  • Check out the local school. There's no point in buying a new home and moving the family if you don't first make sure that the schools are decent.
  • Ask your real estate agent to find out the crime rate. If you're moving to a new town, you need to know this not only for you own safety, but for resale as well.
  • Consider your home a major financial investment. Many home buyers , think that they'll only be in the house for a predetermined amount of times. You may find out that after you and your family get settled and put down roots, you're there for 20 years.
  • Since you might be in this house for a while, buy the house that's at the top of your budget range. Incomes tend to rise as years go by, and what seems like a stretch today won't be such a hardship five years from now.
  • Keep a poker face. Never walk into a house and yell, " I love it ! " If you put all your cards out on the table right away by letting the seller know how much you want the house , you leave yourself little negotiating room down the line.
  • Have your prospective house inspected by your contractor and don't finalise any contract until you have a list of what needs to be repaired and the cost to do so.

  • Research regulations for home building in the desired area.
  • Consider the type of house you would like to build compared to the lot you are considering? Will your new house fit in with the rest of the neighbourhood ?
  • If You have children, check out the schools for that area. Also, think about the traffic of the neighbourhood.
